Writer: Xabilities LimitedXabilities Limited

Kia OraThis is a petition to have this symbol recognized in Aotearoa as the symbol for Neurodivergent New Zealanders, bringing a higher sense of community and inclusion for our Neurodivergents.

Coined by Xabilities Artist (aka Tamara Grant) but gifted freely to the public, this symbol represents not only what it is to be a proud neurodivergent but also respects the challenges that come from living with diversity of the brain.

The figure-eight rainbow is the internationally recognized symbol for neurodiversity. By incorporating two koru designs, this symbol reflects Aotearoa’s rich cultural heritage and the unique diversity New Zealanders contribute globally. Inspired by Māori cultural art, the koru symbolize new life, growth, and strength.

In this design, the two koru represent neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals—distinct yet united, standing together in equity. This unity fosters hope and harmonious living among all diversities, enhancing the quality of life for all New Zealanders.Xabilities’ motto is: “Inclusion drives diversity, and diversity drives innovation.” We believe this symbol embodies our mission to promote nationwide inclusion for neurodiversity. We advocate for the adoption of this symbol to represent and support neurodivergent individuals and inclusive environments.
